Now that the holidays are over, who is ready for the ski season? Discover a few of our favorite Vermont timber frame ski homes we’ve worked on over the years! Over the past five years, many of our ski home projects have been in Southern Vermont. We can definitely see why as there are many mountains within the region, including Stratton Mountain, Mount Snow, Haystack Mountain, Suicide Six, and Bromley. It’s a great area to consider for a second home due to the abundance of skiing and outdoor activities in the area. It’s also quiet and quaint, perfect for those that are looking for country living. Other popular mountains in Vermont include Okemo Mountain, Killington, Stowe, as well as several others. Vermont is a popular state in which to build a ski home and we are proud to have been part of many clients’ dream ski home projects over the last 35 years!
Mountain Modern Timber Frame
Check out this beautiful mountain modern ski home, located near Vermont’s Mount Snow ski area. The home was constructed a little differently compared to our traditional timber frame homes. The structure features our 2×6 panelized wall system and glue-laminated (glulam) beams for the wood structure. Glulam not only provides strength to a structure, but can also help modernize a home. Our clients also painted the glue-laminated beams black, adding to its modern appearance.
Slopeside Timber Frame Home
There is nothing like having the luxury of hitting the slopes right from your backyard! Our clients built this slopeside timber frame home on Stratton Mountain 10 years ago. Its location is just great and the homeowners can hit the trails right from their backyard. It really doesn’t get much better than this!
Wilmington Vermont Timber Frame Home
This amazing Vermont barn home offers the perfect floor plan for those that want to entertain! The original homeowners designed this timber frame home to feature Airbnb space. The walkout basement and first-floor are two private spaces for house guests or Airbnb guests. The second and third floors are the homeowners’ living quarters (pictured in the above photos).
Luxury Timber Frame Ski Home
Can you say wow? This hybrid timber frame ski home is near Stratton Mountain. It features a mix of conventional “stick frame” construction and timber frame construction. The center of the home features timber frame, while the rest of the home uses the conventional technique. It offered the perfect way to give this gorgeous mountain home the look of timber frame without having to fully timber frame it. We are finding a hybrid timber frame is our most popular option in today’s market.
Stowe Vermont Timber Frame Home
Back in 2011, we worked with Sisler Builders on this gorgeous Vermont timber frame ski home! Designed by Boston based Marcus Gleysteen Architects. This timber frame home has a mountain modern rustic design, blending perfectly in the green mountains of Vermont, and features timber frame in the entry, great room, kitchen, the vaulted covered porch, and the bridge leading into the master wing. Davis Frame supplied all the Douglas fir timbers, and the Structural Insulated Panel roof system that was used over the timber frame.
